As a 70+ practicing philosopher, I find that in my years after about 40, I become much more attentive to what I eat and drink. Perhaps obsessive is more accurate. Cooking is not just a way of creating parity in a relationship, it is another form of self-expression, to the extent that I plant a garden of vegetables I use frequently. And wine becomes not just something to wash away the latest journal rejection, but an end in itself, so that only that precious little Austrian Traminer will mate perfectly with this endangered fish species and must be sleuthed out relentlessly. This may loom in the futures of younger philosophers and their keepers.Denlowdnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6014309183503962416.post-63254644762244811342011-06-17T09:07:41.385-07:002011-06-17T09:07:41.385-07:00I am quite interested in a Q&A blog where we p...I am quite interested in a Q&A blog where we philosophers can ask questions about non-philosophers, or in more specific terms, we can ask why non-philosphers react to us in the way they do.
Keep up the good work,
Charles B.Charles Bonaventurehttp://charlesbonaventure.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6014309183503962416.post-42494311693553195022011-06-17T07:50:24.891-07:002011-06-17T07:50:24.891-07:00My philosopher is sitting across the table from me...My philosopher is sitting across the table from me. I laugh out loud each time I read them, because for the most part my husband is the stereotypical philosopher. He too forgets if he ate anything during a given day, or has to think about it a while before responding. Good thing I like to cook or he would starve without supper! He lives on caffeine and (when the grad students go out for happy hour) beer.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6014309183503962416.post-18751522741302617592011-06-16T12:06:09.093-07:002011-06-16T12:06:09.093-07:00100%, eh?
